The Journey Of Return

The work of Living Ancestors is rooted in a simple understanding:

We are not separate

The Journey of Return is a process of remembering our interconnectedness and exploring what becomes possible when we return to ourselves, to one another and to the Earth.

From this remembrance emerges a different way of living-one rooted in stewardship, reciprocity and responsibility to future generations.

A Return to
Self

Questioning inherited assumptions about success, identity and belonging, and reconnecting with the values and integrity that allow us to live more consciously and courageously.

A Return to One Another

Remembering our interdependence and moving beyond narratives of separation toward relationships rooted in care, reciprocity and shared humanity.

A Return to the Earth

Recognising that human flourishing is inseparable from ecological flourishing, and deepening our relationship with land and the living world.

A Return to Remembrance

Bringing these understandings into how we live, steward what we hold, and participate in creating a future worth inheriting.

The Journey of Return is not a programme and it is not reserved for the few. It is a lifelong practice of remembering that our wellbeing is inseparable from the wellbeing of others, the living world and future generations.

The invitation is not to become someone else. It is to remember what separation caused us to forget, and from that remembrance, to participate in creating a future worth inheriting.

Why a Return?

Many of us have inherited stories of separation:-

That we are separate from nature
Separate from one another
Separate from the consequences of our choices
Separate from future generations

These assumptions have profoundly shaped how we understand wealth, success, security and belonging.

The Journey of Return invites us to question these inherited narratives and to remember ourselves as participants in a larger web of relationships. From this remembrance arises a different way of living: one rooted in stewardship, reciprocity and responsibility to the whole.

How the Journey Unfolds

Through gatherings, breathwork, story and sound, Living Ancestors creates experiences that commonly move through these qualities of inquiry:

Threshold

Something no longer fits.
The inherited definitions of success, security or legacy no longer answer the deeper questions that are emerging.

Remembrance

Assumptions of separation begin to soften.

Through conversation, story, grief, nature and reflective practices, we begin to remember our interconnectedness.

Integration

New understandings begin reshaping how we live, relate and steward our resources.

Threshold

Inner shifts become outer expressions of contribution, repair and service.
The journey is not linear. We move, return and deepen.
Each cycle strengthens our capacity to participate in a future worth inheriting.

Why Breath, Story and Sound?

Profound shifts in worldview rarely happen through information alone. They emerge through experience, relationship and embodied reflection.
Conversation, breath, story and sound help us move beyond purely intellectual understanding and into lived and embodied experiences of connection, grief, belonging and interdependence.
Living Ancestors uses these practices as ways of creating the conditions for deeper inquiry, honest dialogue and inspired participation.
