Remembering a
Future Worth Inheriting

•Remembrance •Reconnection •Regeneration

Living Ancestors is a global remembrance movement, founded by Kate Frew Austin and rooted in South Africa – a land carrying both deep ancestral wisdom and the enduring scars of systemic imbalance. It is an invitation for the restoration of right relationship – with self, with others and with the land.

Many are beginning to sense that the inherited definitions of wealth, success and security that shaped the modern world are no longer sufficient for the future we must now create together.

Living Ancestors calls for a sacred redefinition of legacy and inheritance – one that expands beyond family wealth and bloodlines to include our responsibility to humanity, to future generations and to Mother Earth herself. It invites us to move from paradigms of accumulation towards practices of participation.

What if Legacy is Not What We Leave Behind, but What We Seed Forward While We Are Still Alive?

Living Ancestors invites us to remember that we belong not only to bloodlines, but to the wider web of life.

This work invites a deeper understanding of legacy: one that moves beyond personal inheritance toward collective healing, ecological restoration, and service to generations to come.

Through gatherings, breathwork, story, sound and reflection, we ask how the resources we hold – financial, cultural, creative, ancestral – might be stewarded to contribute both to personal continuity and in service to a more just and life-giving future.

Relational Wealth

To Be A Living Ancestor

is to recognise that we are not only descendants, but ancestors of a more beautiful future that is still possible if we choose to act now to seed life, equity and regeneration into humanity’s next story.

is to live with the awareness that our choices – financial, relational, ecological, spiritual – ripple into generations yet to come.

is to remember that the Earth is not a resource, but a relative; that wealth can be not possession but contribution; that legacy is not what we leave behind, but what we seed forward.

This Is An Invitation

The work of Living Ancestors is for those who are beginning to question the inherited paradigms of wealth, legacy and belonging, and who sense the call for a return to right relationship.

For Those Beginning to Remember

That wealth is not only financial, but relational and spiritual.

That true legacy lives in what we nurture, not what we possess.
That healing the future begins by remembering the past — and coming into right relationship with both.

For Those Carrying Quiet Questions

Those who hold spiritual, creative or ancestral wealth.

Those who are grieving the loss of home, identity or belonging.

Those who are exploring questions of purpose, impact and integrity, and longing for a community rooted in care and connection.

For Storytellers and Truth-Holders

Those whose stories have gone unheard, and whose remembering is essential to reweaving the future.
Those who understand that storytelling can be regenerative — restoring shared humanity, healing what has been fractured, and helping us become good ancestors together.

The Journey Of Return

Through gatherings, breathwork, story, sound and ritual, Living Ancestors invites participation in a courageous Journey of Return:

A Return to Self

to coherence, integrity, and the inner wisdom that knows what is right.

A Return to One Another

beyond roles, ranks, and residues of hierarchy.

A Return to the Earth

as a relative, not a resource.

A Return to Remembrance

of who we are, where we come from, and what we are here to do.

Our Relational Web

Living Ancestors is a living field where inner shifts ripple outward into new ways of relating, creating and giving. The work is stewarded by Kate Frew Austin in relationship with:

Transformational Practitioners

Ceremony holders, grief workers, breathwork facilitators, somatic guides, and sound medicine practitioners who create sacred containers for embodied healing and remembrance.

Indigenous Wisdom Keepers

Sovereign elders and cultural guides who carry ancestral knowledge, land-based wisdom, and living traditions that root this work in humility and right relationship.

Regenerative Project Stewards

Land-based and community-rooted leaders cultivating ecological restoration, collective healing, and futures of shared thriving which honour original peoples and their descendants.

The future of our children is inseparable from the future of all children

The wellness of our bodies is inseparable from the wellness of the soil beneath our feet

Personal abundance is inseparable from collective flourishing
